The public opinion is more gullible than scientists first thought

Politicians can unfortunately manipulate public opinion with extreme efficiency. Scientists are left powerless to tell the truth.

People in the United States appear to prefer to trust in the people who're constantly lying to them – politicians – than in those who’ve been ensuring that our race evolves for centuries; yes, I'm talking about scientists. The topic: global warming and climate change.

Republicans in the US are mostly to blame for this scenario. Right there with them are the so-called libertarian think tanks, such as the Heartland Institute and the world's largest oil companies. And, somehow, global warming is a Socialist conspiracy? Please!

New polls show that the American public opinion is more likely to trust big media and politicians than scientists. This explains the current state of affairs in the US, where a quarter of the population does not even acknowledge that the planet is warming.

At this time, Wired reports, opinions on global warming are just as ill-informed as they were at the beginning of the decade, even though some progress was recorded around 2006 and 2007. This downward trend, which will turn to bite us on the behind, so to speak, is everyone's fault!
