The standoff in Herkimer, upstate New York which I wrote about earlier, has resulted in the suspect being fatally shot by police officers, sources say.
64-year-old Kurt Myers went on a shooting spree on Wednesday, killing two people in Mohawk, another two in Herkimer and leaving two injured.
ABC News reveals that, earlier in the day, he lit his home on fire. A "totally unprovoked" series of attacks followed, leading to a shooting encounter with the police and to Myers barricading himself in an abandoned building.
The standoff went on for around 20 hours, during which time snipers were brought in and officers made efforts to approach the suspect who refused to answer his cell phone.
A police dog was sent in and immediately shot by Myers, prompting police to burst inside the facility and open fire.
