The local Sheriff's Department thinks letting Justin off the hook sends the wrong message

When Justin Bieber decided it would be funny to go out to his neighbor's house in the middle of the night and begin chucking raw eggs at the windows and door, police quickly jumped in and started a thorough investigation, declaring that they were treating the pop star as a regular Joe.

As the investigation went on, officers of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department gave their all in trying to collect evidence in the egging case, even resorting to raiding the singer's house. Sadly, that didn't turn out anything to incriminate Bieber, so they sent the case to the D.A. for an official charge.

Radar is now claiming that after last week, the District Attorney decided that Justin's attack didn't qualify as felony vandalism, detectives investigating the case are “absolutely furious.”

A law enforcement officer who insisted on remaining unnamed, said off the record that “He caused $20,000 (€14,376.5) in damage and there is just no denying that.” According to local laws, any act that causes so much damage has to be filed as felony vandalism.

“It sends the wrong the message to the community that celebrities are treated differently. This case should be filed against Justin as a felony, period,” says the infuriated officer.

On the other side of the legal battle, the D.A.'s office defends its verdict because, in the words of an insider, “There just isn’t enough compelling evidence to file a felony vandalism charge against Justin.”

The main question marks in the investigation are the fact that the police seemed oddly over-zealous in their pursuit of the case, as well as the fact that the neighbor's damage estimates are completely overblown. “Yes there was some minor damage, but nowhere near that amount,” says the insider.

“Many feel the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department/Lost Hills Station has been extremely over-zealous in their investigation involving Justin, such as sending over a dozen squad cars to execute a search warrant at his house, and issuing press releases when the investigation was handed over to the D.A. It’s just not done to the average guy,” adds the same source.

This being the case, at the moment, it looks as if Justin is sailing clear through all of his legal troubles, despite the fact that in the last couple of months he's been racking up arrests left and right, in Toronto and Miami.

With most of the cases being settled out of court, Justin will probably end up with just being placed on probation for some time, without any serious repercussions.
