Police in Florida have caught a suspect by posting a “wanted” photo of him online. The man responded to the post and they were able to track him down.

“Matthew Oliver if you would like to discuss your active warrant, please call the Fugitive Warrants Unit at 813-235-6064,” officers wrote in the caption to the photo.

Oliver commented on the photo posted by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, in an effort to clear his name. He was accused of robbery and assault after an incident from December of last year.

The 23-year-old suspect allegedly punched a man in the parking lot of a Family Dollar store and walked away with $260 (€200) in cash.

The Sheriff's Office started a program posting photos of missing suspects regularly on Facebook, under the “Fugitive Of The Day” tag.

According to the Huffington Post, the thread had received a lot of comments on Oliver's appearance, such as the fact that he has big ears. The suspect fought back by responding to most of them.

“You guys are going to pay for A. Believing a crack head. and B. Slandering my name. I already heard about this whole thing and I was in the hospital the day of.

“I've been in the hospital since the end of April its hard to prove something when I'm hooked up to Antibiotics. And now I'm out what do you think I'm doing?” he wrote.

The comments lead police right to his doorstep, getting him arrested and locked up in jail for the weekend.

“Members of the Fugitive Warrants Unit observed Matt Oliver as he walked into an apartment wearing a T-shirt.

“Moments later he came back outside where it is 80 degrees, wearing a camouflage jacket with the hood up. He was apprehended without any resistance,” authorities described after catching him.
