Pokemon Black/White, the newest Pokemon title set to appear for the Nintendo DS, has received even more details, this time concerning the game's new triple battle system, as well as some information about a new infrared communication sensor and a random multiplayer matchmaking service.

Pokemon Black/White has already sold a lot of units in its native Japan, and is getting ready to invade DS handhelds in North America and Europe.

Nintendo, the company behind the two editions, is adding quite a lot of new features into the titles.

First off, we have the new triple battle system, which, according to Nintendo, gives players "more ways than ever to battle their customized team of Pokemon."

"Conducted in three-on-three format, Triple Battles introduce even more strategy to the game's already deep battle system. Depending on a Pokémon's placement in the battle lineup, it will only be able to attack certain Pokémon from an opponent's trio, providing an exciting new way to battle."

"For example, a Pokémon in the center of a player's lineup can attack any of its three opponents. However, a Pokémon positioned on the left or right of the formation can only attack the Pokémon in the middle of the opposing lineup, or directly in front of it."

Pokemon Black/White will arrive on special cartridges, with infrared communication sensors, which will allow players to link up more easily, through the C-Gear in-game device that "grants players a variety of game play and communication tools that utilize a local wireless connection and the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service".

Speaking of wireless connection, Pokemon Black/White will have a special "Wi-Fi Random Matchup" matchmaking system.

This allows "players to battle others from around the world over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service without needing to exchange Friend Codes, opening up even more opportunities for players to test their teams in battle."

As you can see, Nintendo is really adding in features to make playing Pokemon Black/White a more social experience.

The games are scheduled to appear on March 4, in Europe, and March 6, in North America, exclusively for the Nintendo DS lineup.
