Well known iOS hacker Pod2g acknowledges in a recent blog post that many people are waiting for an ‘A5 jailbreak’, referring to the newer Apple iPhone and iPad models. He is now focusing on those, and has passed on the iOS 5 ‘untether’ responsibility over to the Chronic Dev Team.

Pod2g begins his latest blog entry saying “I read the comments on the blog, and I know that a lot of people are waiting for the A5 jailbreak."

“Also, I know there are tons of people out there with A4 or even earlier devices who wants [sic] the untether now and don't care about it could be interesting to wait A5 is finished to release or even 5.1, so that we don't waste an exploit that took me months to find and develop.”

“I need to focus on A5 and hope I can find a path quick, and I have the feeling that chronic-dev could help me,” Pod2g adds.

Summarizing his latest progress, he reveals that the members of Chronic Dev Team now have all the details regarding the untethered iOS 5 jailbreak, and that he has commissioned them to iron out the bugs and release the hack in the shortest time possible.

“I gave all the details to the chronic dev team so that they can finish, test, integrate and release the A4 jb ASAP,” he says.

Finally, he will now begin to concentrate his hacking skills on the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, both of which are based on the newer A5 silicon: “I'll put all my energy from now on on the A5,” he writes. He ends his post saying “Hope I don't disappoint.”

If everything goes according to Pod2g’s plans, jailbreakers can expect an updated version of Greenpois0n to drop before Christmas.
