Not long ago, we talked about a certain invention from Location Based Technologies, and it seems the functionality of said invention has now expanded to items beyond the original GPS system.

The PocketFinder GPS location system is a technology through which one can keep track of a vehicle or person, or anything else, from anywhere, as long as a connection to the web exists.

The PocketFinder GPS system itself was officially introduced last month (late September, 2011) and we even talked about it here.

Simply put, one could track, via satellite, the location of the moving object or person to which the GPS system was strapped.

Now, Location Based Technologies has made a new announcement, one in which it says that people can enjoy PocketFinder if they own an Apple device with GPS included in the specs.

Indeed, provided one owns an Apple iPhone, iPad or iPodTouch, they can get all the benefits through downloading the PocketFinder Locator app.

“In our highly mobile society, this App for our PocketFinder devices delivers an easy solution that helps you use technology to stay connected to what you value most - children, pets, vehicles and assets - at any time and from almost anywhere,” explained Dave Morse, CEO of Location Based Technologies.

“With our new mobile Apps for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, we’ve made keeping in touch with loved ones as simple as touching a few keys.”

The software is complementary to the GPS system itself, or themselves, as one can track more than one device at a time with the app's virtual map. Zooming in on a street with an accuracy of up to 10 feet is supported.

The purpose of PocketFinder is, thus, to give people peace of mind and also transmitting the speed at which the car, motorcycle, boat, snowmobiles, jet skis, etc, travel. Authorities will be able to use the tracking feature to recover stolen vehicles as well (provided the GPS escaped the thieves' notice).
