People going on various trips by themselves would love to be able to take a self-portrait in some remote, exotic location, but often, they can't do that, either because there's no one around to take the photo for them or because they don't have a tripod (or other mounting solution) readily available. For this reason, XShot has come up with a product that will enable anyone to take care of the aforementioned issue in a very fast and easy manner. The device is question is called Xshot as well and is, basically, a durable metal shaft that attaches to the tripod mount on the camera and extends, in order to put some distance between the camera and the subject whose photo is being taken. And we're not talking about an arm's length here (because that would make it pretty much useless), the Xshot extending to 37” / 94 cm, while being quite easy to carry around while close, since it only measures around 9” / 22.9 cm and weighs roughly 5 oz (142g). The device sports a comfortable nonslip grip that secures it in the user's hand, while the included lanyard will keep it secure while taking a picture (and hopefully, prevent the camera from moving around too much). In order to grant users more creative options, the adapter rotates 180 degrees, but, unfortunately, there's also a shortcoming, namely the fact that only cameras weighing up to 1.25 lb (570 g) are supported. The only problem with the Xshot, as far as we're concerned, is the fact that it doesn't include an additional system for triggering the shutter as well, users being forced to rely on the camera's own timer in order to take the photos. Luckily, the Xshot accessory is actually pretty affordable, the device selling for just around 30 US dollars, which is a quite a good deal for such a product, given the level of versatility it enables.
