Are built out of NAND chips made on the 34nm manufacturing process

The market for super-fast solid state drives got two new additions recently, courtesy of Plextor, whose product line welcomed members based on the 34nm manufacturing process.

Since the SATA 6.0 Gbps, otherwise known as SATA III, is becoming mainstream now, consumers don't really have much room to be shocked by new drives compatible with it.

As such, learning that Plextor developed the GB PX-128M2P and the GB PX-256M2P never really could cause too great a surprise in people.

This doesn't mean that their performance, capacity and reliability is any less impressive, however.

People interested in the full specifications of either model can go to the official product page and look for themselves at what Plextor has to offer through these items whose storage capacities are of 128 GB and 256 GB, respectively.

Toshiba TH58TV68D2FDA88 Multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash built on the 34 nm process is what the outfit used in their making.

Also, both products support Bad Block Management, SMART and Instant Restore technologies.

Furthermore, the solid state drives boast the TrueSpeed firmware and, via the TRIM command, can hold on to their read and write performance instead of having it degrade over time because of NAND's issue with limited write cycles.

Speaking of transfer speeds, they are none too shabby either, even if there is a visible difference between the read and write rates, as opposed to say, the ADATA S510.

To be more precise, the sustained read speed is of 500 MB/s, while the write speed reached 440 MB/s on the 256 GB drive and 320 MB/s on the other one.

In that order, the SSDs are priced at 46,800 JPY ($610 / 461.56 Euro) and 21,800 JPY (the rough equivalent of $284 / 214.89 Euro).

Those who don't want to spend too much time searching the Internet for the right web address need only follow this link if the product pages is what they seek.
