Blizzard has confirmed that it will be bringing playable versions of both its upcoming Diablo III dungeon crawler role-playing game, as well as the recently confirmed StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, at this year's Gamescom conference in Cologne, Germany.

Blizzard has quite a lot of projects set to appear in the near future, but, as usual, all of them have a release date of when it's done, meaning until the company is satisfied with the result, gamers won't get a chance to experience them.

Luckily, Blizzard isn't shy of conventions, as highlighted by its upcoming BlizzCon gathering, and has also confirmed that it will be coming to Gamescom, when the German convention takes place this August.

"The world's largest gaming convention will be held this year in Cologne, Germany, from 18 to 21 August, and Blizzard Entertainment's massively mark its presence there," the company said. "We have prepared for you, not just exhibition matches, live raids, competitions and other attractions, but also three great games, in which every visitor will be able to play.

We've already heard this official confirmation a few weeks ago, but now, on the Polish Battle.net website, via Diablo Inc Gamers, we find out that two very special titles will be playable in Cologne, Germany.

"Present at this year's Gamescom are Diablo III, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, and for the first time in a playable version in Europe, Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Do not miss this unique opportunity to personally try out these three games, win prizes and cheer professional players in StarCraft II, and the teams fighting in the arena of World of Warcraft. Visit us in hall 6.1 (position B21 and C30)."

Diablo III is set to receive a beta stage this year and, depending on the feedback, may even be released before the end of 2011.

If not, then it's going to join StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm for a 2012 launch. Until then, however, you can stop by Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, between August 18 and 21, or just visit Softpedia, because we'll be on the show floor, bringing you the best hands on materials and all the big news.
