The PlayStation Vita has just been released in Japan and Sony has now revealed just how the features of the new device are being showcased to new customers, thanks to a group of minigames that are part of a ‘Welcome Park’ collection.

The PlayStation Vita is, at least according to Sony, the most advanced mobile gaming device ever made, so you know the company is trying its best to really show off its attributes to consumers who want to try it out.

We already know a lot about the features of the device, from its 5-inch OLED touchscreen, to the touch-resistive back panel, to its dual analog sticks, tilt controls or the front and rear cameras. Now, Sony has released a few details about how all these features will be showcased to owners, thanks to a collection of minigames called Welcome Park.

“One of the first things you’re likely to play on your new PS Vita is Welcome Park. It has been designed by members of Japan Studio who also worked on Hot Shots Golf and, while its main purpose is to introduce features such as touch controls and the cameras, it does so through minigames that are surprisingly deep,” said Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s blog manager, Joel Gallagher.

“They include Digit Chase, a front touch game where you have to tap numbers in a sequence (tougher than it sounds); Snap + Slide, which generates tile sliding puzzles from photos you take; and Sound Loop, a simple but excellent synthesizer that lets you record sounds using the built-in microphone and loop them against a variety of pre-recorded beats,” he elaborated.

This collection of minigames also rewards owners with special trophies, including a gold and silver one, plus 11 bronze prizes, so there are more than enough reasons to try them out once you get your PlayStation Vita next February, when it is released in the rest of the world.
