Sony has talked a bit more about the DualShock 4 controller that will be released alongside the PlayStation 4 later this year, saying that many aspects were shaped by actual video game developers and, as a result, there wasn't any negative feedback on the device coming after the E3 2013 conference.

The PlayStation 4 is going to be released by Sony at the end of 2013 and, alongside it, the Japanese company is introducing a new controller in the form of the DualShock 4.

As opposed to previous devices, the DS4 has a major redesign and sports plenty of new features, such as a front touchpad or a special light bar, not to mention a dedicated Share button.

According to the PlayStation 4's Hardware Architect, Mark Cerny, who talked with NowGamer, the DualShock 4's design has been tweaked based on lots of feedback from actual video game developers from around the world.

"The controller was a very, very broad collaboration that went out to the game teams and even some of the third-party teams," Cerny said. "We looked at everything we could put into the controller and solicited feedback from the teams on what we should include."

A lot of feedback appeared from developers of first-person shooters, as the genre is "very important to us," according to Cerny.

The result was a lot of feedback concerning many little things that concluded into an improved experience.

"We went to key teams who make the best of the best and we got their specific feedback on trigger springiness, concavity or convexity of joysticks and deadzones, and tuned the controller through a succession of prototypes to what it is today."

What's more, according to Cerny, the DualShock 4 is so great that he didn't hear any sort of negative things about the device at E3 2013.

"The result is we showed at E3 and I did not hear – and it’s a tough audience – I did not hear any negative feedback about the controller."

The DualShock 4 and the PS4 are scheduled to make their debut later this year.
