The hardware and software sales figures for the week that ended on October 18 have been released by Media Create and they show the PlayStation 3 home-gaming console again selling better than its rivals in the Land of the Rising Sun, while Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has debuted at number five in the software chart.

The Nintendo DSi handheld has again proven to be the best sold gaming device, shipping no less than 49,145 units in one week, slightly less than the previous week. The second spot went, as usual in the last few weeks, to the Sony PlayStation Portable, which has also recently received a price cut.

The difference between the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii is very small. The PS3 has managed to move 30,231 units in one week, while the Wii has only sold 29,965 in the same time-frame. The Xbox 360 managed to sell better than the DS Lite and the PlayStation 2, with 3,662 units in sales. Overall, the PlayStation 3 has managed to sell better than the Wii in the month of September, thanks to the release of the Slim version and to the price cut that accompanied it, and observers are interested to see whether the same can happen in October, perhaps leading to a change in the status quo in Japan when it comes to home consoles.

Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver from Nintendo and Pokemon for the Nintendo DS has again been the best sold video game for the week, selling 165,000 copies in one week, with number two going to Wii Fit Plus, which probably boosted the sales of the Wii with 118,000 units moved to gamers. Tomodachi Collection continues to stay in the top five with 63,000 units sold and with Inazuma Eleven 2: Kyoui no Shinryakusha from Level 5 following in the fourth place. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, from Naughty Dog and Sony, has managed to sell 54,000 copies in the first week on sale, breaking into the top five.
