PopCap Games has announced that it will continue to increase the number of platforms for its hit title Plants vs. Zombies with the Nintendo DS handheld being confirmed as getting a version of the game at some point during January 2011.

PopCap is saying that the Nintendo DS version of the game will have all the game modes that were included in the PC version and that gamers who prefer the Nintendo handheld can also look forward to some exclusive content, although it did not offer any details on the actual new content that will be offered.

The Nintendo DS version of Plants vs. Zombies will retail for the rather low price of 19.95 dollars and a clear launch date will be announced later in the year.

PopCap Games is also saying that the Xbox 360 version of the video game will arrive both through the Live service and through a retail package.

Those who will use Live to get the undead fighting game will have to way 1,200 Microsoft Points, which is about 15 dollars, and will get access to two entirely new multiplayer modes, 12 Achievements and another 21 mini games.

Plants vs. Zombies will allow Xbox 360 users to see how their friends progress in the game, with new social elements including houses that can be visited to see how well the fight against the zombies is going.

The XBLA version of the game has a set in stone launch date for September 8.

Those who love physical objects need to wait until September 28 when PopCap will deliver two different bundles, one coming packed with Peggle and the other with Zuma.

Plants vs. Zombies has been initially launched on the PC and on the Mac in the fall of last year and managed to ensnare players with its unique twist on the tower defense game genre.
