As LCD displays for computers are becoming more and more affordable, the demand for bigger screens, mostly in the wide aspect format is rising, prompting monitor manufacturers to come out with new lines of products in an attempt to satisfy the market's demand.

One of the LCD screens manufacturer and vendor, Planar Systems just announced the release of its latest line of products that includes displays with wide aspect format and sizing ranging from 22 to 26 inches. The line of PX monitors is said to provide up to 82 percent more desktop real estate space that traditional shaped 4:3 monitors of 19 inches. Planar's PX line of monitors is intended for use in high demanding graphics applications such as graphic design, video editing and computer-assisted design manufacturing (CAD/CAM for short), finance and advertising. Their utility in such fields comes from the wide aspect design that allows the PX series to display multiple application windows and Web pages at the same time and thus reducing the time users will spend switching back and forth between different windows.

"Investing in a widescreen monitor makes good business sense -- it eliminates the cost and need of a two-monitor setup and streamlines workflow, enabling users to succeed in competitive environments," said Mark A. Ceciliani, vice president and general manager at the commercial business unit at Planar Systems, who was cited by the news site businesswire. "By combining Planar's rich history in the display industry and our top-of-the-line warranty policy, we are delivering solutions that enable customers to better support daily business functions with fewer interruptions."

Planar's PX line of wide aspect monitors is available from a variety of retail channel partners and online stores and it comes with a free two-day replacement policy. Among the features of the PX line, there are DVI and VGA video inputs, high screen resolution of up to 1920 x 1200 and a four USB ports extension that allows users to connect the monitor to all other kinds of devices. The Planar RapidVideo technology is implemented in the PX line, which enables such monitors to display clear images even with fast motion videos.
