James Gandolfini passed away two days ago, on June 19. Following his death, many felt the need to take some time to ponder on his accomplishments as an actor.

However, James Gandolfini was also an animal lover, and had an especially soft spot for pit bulls, which many are too quick to label as vicious and dangerous dogs.

The actor's last film, “Animal Rescue,” now in post-production, stands as proof of the actor's commitment to this cause.

Ecorazzi says that the movie is intended to raise awareness of animal abuse issues. What's more, a rescue pit bull will star in it.

“[I] wanted to make [Gandolfini] proud with the movie we made together and now it will be in his loving memory,” film Director Michael Roskam said.

Most people expect that the dog's presence in this film will help remove some of the stigma surrounding this breed.

“Animal Rescue” will be released in 2014.
