PC maker based in Australia, Pioneer Computer, appears to be experimenting with both hardware and software platforms, as if trying to find the middle way. Just last month, the company decided to show off a slightly odd product known as the DreamBook Lite E10. Now, the same outfit appears to be doing something similar with the DreamBook ePad A10, though the situation is hardly the same considering that the items themselves belong to different categories.

The DreamBook Lite E10 stood out through the fact that, despite being a netbook, it used not the Intel pine Trail platform. Instead, it had a system configuration centered around the VIA- 8505, an ARM part. Now, instead of using ARM in its DreamBook ePad A10, as slates seem to have the tendency, the PC supplier implemented an x86 processor.

Basically, the ePad A10 is a Pine Trail tablet PC measuring 267 x 173 x 17 mm. Obviously, this means that the display has a diagonal of 10.1 inches. This touchscreen panel has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. Additionally, configuration is centered around an Intel Atom N455 CPU or an Atom N475, which supports DDR3. The amount of RAM available can be either 1GB or 2GB. Furthermore, the internal flash storage can come in capacities of 16GB or 32GB, depending on user preference. As for connectivity and I/O, Pioneer threw in the obligatory 802.11 b/g WiFi, as well as a 1.3 megapixel front-facing webcam and a mini USB port.

The DreamBook ePad A10 is equipped with a 3-cell battery that can keep the entire creature operational, on a single charge, for up to 5 hours. Finally, the Microsoft Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP can be pre-loaded onto the machine. Orders can be set here, though consumers should make sure to have $500 (599 AUD) on hand.
