14 DAY TRIAL // Pioneer has many products in its portfolio, but it is clear enough that the company has a special liking for multimedia consumer electronics, like its two new AV receivers.
Pioneer Electronics Inc. has issued a long and detailed press release in which it describes all the perks of having an Elite-branded AV receiver.
There are two new such items on sale, the Elite VSX-42 and the VSX-60.
In that order, the 7.2-channel receivers carry prices of $450 and $650, respectively, which is the same, more or less, as 340.96 Euro and 492 Euro, respectively.The former has an output of 80 watts x 7, while the latter offers 90 watts x 7.
Both have AirPlay support (iTunes music access), iPhone/iPad / Android Control (ControlApp/iControlAV2012), wired Ethernet (wireless on the VSX-60 if an optional adapter is used), and network content access (Windows 7 / DLNA 1.5/ vTuner / Pandora), etc.
Furthermore, HDMI is fully supported, as is Auto MCACC / Phase Control for the audio (Advanced MCACC/ Phase Control Plus/ PQLS Bitstream/ Auto Sound Retriever for the VSX-60).
Fort those who don't feel like stretching their brains trying to understand all these terms, the bottom line is that Pioneer's new Elite AV receivers are both high-end, but the VSX-60 is better.
Both of them also have custom home theater enhancements and apps for iPhone and iPad though, so no worries there.
“Our Elite receivers are designed for both conventional installations that can be done by consumers as well as those by professional installers who can take advantage of their advanced features,” said Chris Walker, director of AV marketing and product planning for the Home Electronics Division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.
The newcomers are DLNA 1.5-certified, support Bluetooth audio streaming and vTuner Internet radio, and are based on powerful video processors (Anchor bay for VSX-42 and Marvell’s award-winning Qdeo on the VSX-60).
