Technalign is a leading distributor and manufacturer of Linux and Linux software, having closed partnerships with Appgen, Codeweavers, Happy Jack, Userful, and others. Recently, Technalign officials have made available a press release announcing a new Ubuntu-based distribution called Pioneer Explorer.

Regarding this new release, Dianne Ursini, CEO with Technalign, Inc. stated:

"We needed to move into a direction that provided our end-users the longevity they needed with a base that provides the means to carry out that task." Ursini adds "With the Technalign Trailblazer Framework, Pioneer Explorer utilizes the best of Debian in the short and long terms"..

Pioneer Explorer, currently at its 1.0 version, is based on Technalign Trailblazer and many of its new repositories are tightly related to those of Debian (Etch and Sid) and Ubutu 7.04. However, according to the Technalign officials the future releases will be oriented on some more pure Debian repositories and less of Ubuntu. Pioneer Explorer also provides wireless support as well as flyspary for bug tracking and it also addresses users in business as well as the consumer markets aiming to offer them the possibility to continue to use a product with a long life expectancy on servers as well as workstations. While it is free to common individuals, schools or non-profit organizations wanting to run an enterprise server, the commercial establishments will have to purchase a copy and receive full support.

According to the Technalign developers, the new Trailblazer framework should bring Pioneer Basic, Stagecoach and MigrationSERVER to a 5-year lifecycle that has been demanded by their partner network and by the users. Technalign has also the ability to carry out a good management of the repositories, thanks to some additional resources provided by Universities and the source code is also available via the repositories.
