Wikipedia no longer rules the list of social media websites in the American Consumer Satisfaction Index. After several years at the top, Wikipedia is making room for Pinterest.

Pinterest has climbed in the eyes of US consumers, as the recent ACSI report reveals, managing to get a score of 76, six percent more than it had last year.

Wikipedia is the only major site to experience a decline in user satisfaction, which is a significant drop, especially since it managed to run the show for four consecutive years. In the past twelve months, however, Wikipedia fell 5 percent to 74 points.

While the site continues to be the sixth most visited website in the world, it seems to be having some issues with keeping active contributors, mostly because of the tight rules around the content being uploaded to the platform in order to ensure accuracy and maintain a quality level.

On the third place, we find YouTube, Google’s video streaming service. With a score of 73, YouTube tied with the average of “all other” social media sites, including Instagram, Reddit, and Tumblr.

Another product from the same company, social-flavored platform Google+ ranks next with 71, the same it had last year when the survey was conducted.

Twitter comes next with a score of 69, climbing six percent from 2013. “The gain follows a site redesign as well as platform changes that make it easier for users to integrate photos and videos,” the study notes.

The last two on the chart are LinkedIn and Facebook, making for a rather disappointing result for the two networks. Even under the current circumstances, the two are doing better than they were a year ago, which is a good sign.

Facebook climbed 8 percent to a score of 67, but it remains to be seen how things will go until next year. The report mentions the controversial emotion manipulation study conducted in 2012 which had hundreds of thousands of users randomly selected to see either more positive or negative posts, hinting that this may affect the company’s standing in the eyes of the consumers.

LinkedIn had the same 8 percent gain and reached the same score of 67. The advance may have something to do with all the improvements the processional network brought to the platform in recent months.

Internet Social media is the fourth lowest-scoring category in the entire report regarding online businesses, above airlines, subscription television and Internet service providers.
