The development team at Obsidian Entertainment and the publishing arm of Paradox Interactive announce that they have decided to launch the much-awaited Pillars of Eternity on March 26 of this year worldwide, with the title offered both in physical stores and via digital outlets at the same time.

Never-before-seen footage from the title is set to be revealed in a coming live stream which will feature commentary from project director, Josh Sawyer.

All fans need to tune in on January 15 at 1 PM Pacific Standard Time in order to see how Pillars of Eternity has evolved since the backer beta period.

Feargus Urquhart, the chief executive officer of Obsidian Entertainment, states in the announcement that "The community has been incredibly forthcoming with their feedback, and we want to thank all of our fans for being so engaged with the game’s development – and for giving us the time to implement their suggestions and ensure Pillars of Eternity is a game we can be proud of."

Pillars of Eternity is designed to offer a classic role-playing experience with a focus on exploration, party management and combat.

Fredrik Wester, the CEO of Paradox Interactive, adds, "We’ve always known that, given the opportunity, the developers would be able to make Pillars of Eternity into the game we’ve all been waiting for; we’ve got several backers of the game on our own team."

Pillars of Eternity is one of the most backed Kickstarter-funded titles

The new title from Obsidian would not exist without support from the fan community, which backed the project on Kickstarter in record numbers in 2012, offering more than 4.5 million dollars (3.4 million Euro).

Since the concept was revealed, the team has built a new and complex fantasy world which has traditional and innovative elements.

They are saying that fans will discover a world which encourages players to express their personality through the class they choose for their characters and by recruiting a party of like-minded individuals.

Obsidian has offered constant updates about the core mechanics of Pillars of Eternity and the team will probably continue to deliver streams and other pieces of information in order to make sure that fans are prepared for launch.
