Obsidian's Pillar of Eternity is definitely one of the best RPGs of 2015, but that doesn't mean that it's without flaws. Since its release, the game has been plagued by lots of bugs and issues that dragged down the gameplay experience.

The good news is the worst problems with Pillars of Eternity have already been fixed, as Obsidian released a handful of patches in order to address some of the issues reported by players.

The next patch will bump the game to version 1.05 and will add a huge amount of balance adjustments and some general bug fixes.

According to the developers, patch 1.05 is still a work in progress and will be delivered in beta state sometime later today. The final version of the patch should go live this month, but a release date will probably be confirmed later on.

In order to be able to download patch 1.05 beta for Pillar of Eternity, players will need to opt-in to beta patches via Steam. Simply log in to Steam and head over to your Library of games.

Right click on Pillars of Eternity in the list of games and choose Properties. Then, select beta (This is the patch beta branch) so that you can receive all the beta patches released by Obsidian. If you don't want to get any beta patches, then you can choose the other option: None - Opt out of all beta programs.

Many other changes haven't been listed

Keep in mind that save games in 1.05 are not compatible with earlier versions of the game. This means that Pillar of Eternity will automatically back up save games in a special folder in the save game directory after converting the saves to the new format.

Patch 1.05's changelog is huge and contains hundreds of bug fixes, balance changes, and new UI features. In addition, Obsidian also added many minor fixes that aren't even listed in these notes.

There is one single known issue left to be addressed. The “Previous” button is disabled in character creation. This issue is being fixed as we speak and should be fine in the next beta that is released.
