Android fans rejoice, or not. Pierre Cardin has just announced the availability of its first and only 7-inch Android tablet aimed at fashionistas.

Unfortunately, that's the only target of the device, as the Pierre Cardin PC-7006 is delivered with Android 2.2 Froyo on board, which makes it rather obsolete.

This usually happens when someone mixes fashion with technology, which might not be a bad idea if it comes from a handset manufacturer, but when it comes from a fashion designer things go bad.

The irony is that Pierre Cardin's PC-7006 tablet is a fashionistas device that comes with an old operating system, which makes it so not fashionable.

However, it looks like Pierre Cardin does nothing wrong, as many other brands specialized in other domains usually do things like that, which means that the PC-7006 can be considered trendy.

Still, I was expecting to see a device with diamonds, rubies, sapphire display, Swarovski crystals, expensive leather and such.

Instead the tablet comes packed in a black gift box, but this is the only thing that could make it stand out.

As for the PC-7006 specs, it comes with a 7-inch capacitive touch-screen with multi-touch capabilities and 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

Furthermore, the tablet is equipped with a Samsung S5PV210 Cortex-A8 1.0 GHz processor and packs 4GB of internal memory, 512 MB DDR2 RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (16GB).

The tablet measures 19.5 x 12.3 x 1.4cm and weighs 520g (battery included), which makes it one of the heaviest 7-inch tablets out there.

It looks like the tablet features 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls, but there is no information about a main camera on the back.

Software-wise, Pierre Cardin's Froyo tablet comes pre-loaded with Google's full suite, including browser, Maps, Gmail and YouTube, Android Market.

The PC-7006 tablet is available for purchase for £275.00 and can be ordered online directly from Pierre Cardin's website.
