Just the casing

Some of you have probably already read about that special OLED Optimus Maximum keyboard that has been designed by a company called Art Lebedev. Considered by many to be one of the coolest keyboards ever, the Optimus Maximus is also one of the less affordable keypads on the planet, with a price tag of about 1,273.70 Euros, specifically because of the use of the OLED technology on all its 113 keys (or rather displays).

With all that, the company certainly wants its name featured on a product that is close to your computer, and that you can purchase without having to pay a fortune for it. This is probably where the Optimus AUX, a keypad that is affordable to most users, started as a concept.

According to pictures of the casing that have just surfaced on the Internet, the product still looks as if being in development stage. This basically means that, although it appears as something Art Lebedev would put out, it's yet too early to specify what the product's technical details are. It is, however, likely that the Optimus AUX has found its inspiration in the company's flagship Maximum keyboard, and that it will also be equipped with the OLED technology for its keys, a feature that is bound to raise the price of this product, as compared with that of other similar ones.

As one might have imagined, for that matter, there's no word on availability or pricing details yet. However, as already mentioned, users should expect a higher than average price tag, and a release date that is likely to be sometime next year, probably during one of the major computer electronics show, like the CES or the CeBIT.

Last but not least, it will be interesting to see how such a keypad will impact the market, and how many users will consider acquiring one for their own computer system.
