The photo and video capture device looks puny indeed

A new camera will soon be released by Olympus, one that uses a fixed lens and will debut on October 29, 2013.

The device, according to Digicame-info, is called Olympus STYLUS1 and is a mini camera similar to the OM-D in many respects.

That's all we know though. Other than the small screen's ability to tip upwards anyway.

That means we have to wait for another week and a half before we learn what sensor is used, what codecs exist, what the best video recording quality is, etc.

Given the price of ¥70,000 (around $700 / €500), I suspect the primary traits are decent, but not overly so. Miniaturizing the camera accounts for quite a bit of the tag.

Since the Olympus OM-D has a sensor of 16 megapixels (Live MOS), I expect the STYLUS1 to have one at least as good.
