Everybody knows that lion cubs are quite small. Still, it's safe to say one cannot fully comprehend just how small they are until ones sees them standing next to their parents.

The picture above was taken by photographer Neil Agate back in 2008, but is just now starting to get the attention it deserves.

Huffington Post tells us that the picture was taken in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park.

If the scene looks familiar, this is because the two lions featured in it very much resemble Mufasa and Simba from Disney's “The Lion King.”

What's more, it appears that the site where the felines were caught on camera is known as “Simba Kopje,” which translates as “Lion Hill.”

Caught on film taking a walk with its dad, this lion cub looks more like a plush toy or a slightly overweight house cat than the predator it really is.

As it matures, however, it will grow bigger and bigger. Eventually, it will look just as fierce as its dad does, striking fear into all other living creatures.

Sadly, lions are presently listed as a threatened species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Thus, the overall headcount for this species is said to have dropped by about 30% over the past 20 years, mainly because people have been killing these felines to protect themselves and their livestock.

The reason lions and people are in conflict is because the felines have been left without much of their habitat and so they sometimes wander too close to human communities.
