Photographer Michael Moss has recently had the chance to snap some really impressive pictures of a pair of lionesses that fought each other for the safety of their cubs.

The photographer explains that the fight began when two lion prides in Africa chanced to cross paths. Two female lions that were part of these prides had cubs to look after, and both were highly protective of them.

Hence the fact that it took just a few minutes before they jumped at each other's throats, looking to prove that whoever dared approach and harm their offspring would become minced meat.

“This was a first, the females were from two different prides that just happened to meet each other,” Michael Moss reportedly said.

The fight lasted for only a few minutes, after which the two lion prides went their separate ways. Luckily, none of the lionesses sustained any major injuries.
