Japanese artist Takanori Aiba will forever change the way you look at bonsais

If you happen to own a bonsai and, for some reason, you think it's rather dull-looking, here's what you can do: find some stone clay, resin and items you no longer have an use for and build an imaginary landscape around it.

Granted, your little project will probably fail to impress visitors if you lack any kind of skills when it comes to manual labor, but at least you'll be able to go to bed at night knowing that you've given it a try.

The bonsai-turned-miniature-world pictured above is the creation of Japanese artist Takanori Aiba, Tree Hugger reports.

“Bonsai reflects the Japanese traditional aesthetic sense of expressing the magnificence of nature in a small potted plant. However, the density of decoration and the rich stories of my works contain extraordinary times and spaces which differ from the bonsai world determined by plants physiology,” the artist describes his work.

The artist has been busy turning these tiny plants into works of art for quite a while not, and I for one have to admit that some of his works make me think about the elves' tree homes in LOTR.
