The picture emerged just days after the Prince promised to protect African wildlife

Not very long ago, Prince Harry announced that, as far as protecting wildlife was concerned, he was game. However, now that a picture showing him posing next to the dead body of a water buffalo has emerged, some might doubt his willingness to become actively involved in conservation efforts.

Information shared with the public says that the picture in question, made available next to this article, was taken a decade ago, when Prince Harry was about 20 years old.

According to Daily Mail, the Prince killed the water buffalo while visiting South America. Chelsy Davy, who was his girlfriend at that time, accompanied him on this hunting trip.

Word has it that, shortly after the Prince had killed this animal, local media in South America reported that both the buffalo's head and the head of a wild boar which had also been killed by Harry were to be embalmed and shipped to the United Kingdom.

Apparently, both these animal heads were intended to be gifts for the Prince, the same source tells us. However, it is unclear whether they ever left South America for Prince Harry's home country.

Not at all surprisingly, Prince Harry has not yet made any public comments concerning this picture showing him smiling next to the corpse of the lifeless water buffalo.

However, a senior royal aide wished to stress that, “It would be a great shame if the publication of this picture were to detract from the efforts being made  by the three princes to curb the appalling illegal  wildlife trade.”

Furthermore, “Like his father and brother, Prince Harry has always been a strong supporter of the campaign to protect endangered species.”

Although some might not approve of Prince Harry's killing this water buffalo and several other wild animals, the fact remains that none of the hunts that he or other members of his family have taken part in over the years were illegal ones.
