Picasa is a downloadable application provided by Google that is often regarded as the most efficient program to organize and manage numerous photos. As you know, the search giant also designed a web interface for Picasa that helps users manipulate photos using a simple online service containing powerful features implemented in the downloadable tool. Today, Google announces an improvement for Picasa Web Albums, increasing the storage size to 1GB.

"We have a few long-awaited improvements at Picasa Web Albums today. A new Community Photos search feature helps you discover and explore the public web albums of others on the site. Free storage is now 1GB (and counting)-that's room to post and share around 4,000 standard resolution photos. And we've made albums and photos easier to link to from any email, IM or website-simply copy and paste the code we show you," Mike Horowitz, the Picasa Product Manager, sustained on the official blog of the company.

Although Google also provides a web version of Picasa, the product is often regarded as a downloadable application, being installed on numerous computers in every corner of the world. Google is not quite a downloadable software solutions provider because its services are based on online products with just a small number of offline tools. Google Desktop is another program designed by the search giant that created more than a simple headache for Google's employees.

Even if it's quite popular, Google Desktop was recently affected by two critical vulnerabilities that made the product vulnerable to several types of exploitation. Although Google was informed about the flaw soon after it was discovered, the company tried to keep it private and confirmed it only when the fix was available.

Picasa was also tested by Softpedia and it is available as a free download on this link.
