Recently, Phottix announced on its blog the availability of a new firmware for its Odin TTL flash trigger for Nikon digital SLRs. The new v1.06 build comes with a few improved features, added options, as well as a new beta function, the Overdrive Sync.
By upgrading their Odin TTL trigger firmware, users will be able to take advantage of a new function that will cause the flashes in each group (A, B, C) to fire simultaneously when you press the Test button on the transmitter. If any of the groups is turned off, the flashes assigned to them will not fire.
If you have your A, B, C group flashes set to Manual (M), an initial low-power pre-flash will be triggered when pressing the Test button. After 2.5s, all flashes will fire simultaneously at their set manual power, allowing you to measure the necessary light for your photo session.
In addition to that, the new build fixes an issue that made the flash unresponsive due to the sleep mode function activated during long exposures. Moreover, the possible misfire issues occurring after a flash has been fired at a high power level are now fixed.
If you update your Odin TTL flash firmware to the latest version, you will also be able to take advantage of a new function that will make the transmitter exit the version display screen and revert back to standard screen when taking photos.
Furthermore, you can try the new Overdrive Sync beta function that improves sync speed over standard studio lights X-Sync allowing triggering delay times to be set on an Odin TCU.
