Photos captured by dissidents in North Korea reveals the life that residents have under Kim Jong-un, after challenging the regime.

The images have been shot from across the heavily guarded border with China. They show the Haesan labor camp and shed light on the poverty that plagues N. Korea.

Those who have gained access to these images have also put their lives at great risk. The images have been sent to British newspaper The Mirror, along with a video. Upon being discovered, the cameraman was forced to flee after a sniper pointed a weapon at him.

Inmates are caught on tape digging in frozen soil or carrying boulders and wooden boards as they work for the construction of a bridge in the work camp.

A child lies on the side of a road in Yang Gang county, near the border with China, starving and almost dead, according to witness testimony. Next to him, a truck is loaded with stocks for soldiers preparing for an imminent battle with South Korea.
