These days, you don’t exist unless you have a Twitter, Instagram, and / or Facebook page. When you do set them up, one of the first things you must do is, of course!, snap a selfie. You can make it a face selfie, a belfie, or a leg selfie, but, whichever part of the body you choose to photograph and put up online, it has to be done.

You might not have known this but the inventors of the selfies are Thelma and Louise, aka one of the most famous criminal duos in cinema, from the 1991 hit film of the same name, as portrayed by Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon.

In one scene in the film, they lift up an old Polaroid and snap a photo of their faces. That selfie has just been recreated 23 years on and, as you can see from the photo above, these two lovely ladies seem not to age but only get more elegant and beautiful with time.

By the way, Susan is 67 years old, while Geena is 58. I suspect they both have had some help in the wrinkle-free complexion department, but that’s beside the point. They’re flawless.

The photo was posted to Susan Sarandon’s Twitter with the caption, “Inventors of the #selfie at it again. #ThelmaAndLouise.” For her younger fans, she also included in the photo the original “selfie,” as shown in the movie.

The fact that these two are still such close friends after all these years is perhaps what makes this “selfie” so amazing. Even in Hollywood, there are things that endure.
