14 DAY TRIAL // Last week, rapper Nicki Minaj went off on Twitter against ESPN magazine for retouching her photo used on the cover of the latest issue. She is taking a stand once more for au naturel beauty by posting photos of her hair without extensions.
This might not seem like such a big deal but, in showbiz, few are the female entertainers who are all natural, whether we’re talking hair or nail extensions, or plastic surgery.
Whenever a huge star like Nicki does something like this, offering fans a look behind the glamorous façade, she is practically telling her female fans that an ideal of beauty doesn’t exist, just like perfection doesn’t either.
Nicki has quite a Barbie reputation to uphold so, once more, having her show her real self to fans is truly something else.
Yes, she’s still wearing makeup, but at least we (and particularly the fans) get to see her real hair, “no perm, no extensions,” and her face when she’s not forcing it into strange positions for poses.
