A photo of a red-eyed man has taken Reddit by storm. He suffered a scubadiving incident, having the capillaries in his eyes burst.

"My brother's friend had a scubadiving accident," the caption on Redditor ChewyUbleck's picture reads.

There is actually a name for this condition, which is barotrauma. According to some users, the man featured here looks like he is part of the "Walking Dead" cast.

Others mention that the condition is actually very common and it goes by "mask squeeze" in the diving world. The effect is temporary, but it can last for up to three months.

Barotrauma is caused by a difference in pressure which takes place when the pressure in one's environment is significantly changed. Where scubadiving is concerned, this occurs when the mask is not correctly equalized.
