$20,000 (16,000 EUR) prize money, a new car, and zero billing charges when purchasing trips to the sporting event. This is what a fraudulent FIFA World Cup 2014 Brazil website is promising Portuguese-speaking users in return for their credit card information.

The malicious website is cleverly designed, proudly displaying the logo of FIFA World Cup 2014 and the picture of Brazilian footballer Neymar da Silva in order to make everything more legitimate-looking.

To win the fabulous prizes, victims must provide their personal details, credit card information, and even their email address along with the associated password.

Once the information is handed over and the Submit button is pressed, the victim is presented with this message: Congratulations, your registration was successfully completed. Record your protocol number for future reference: World Cup-277550123-2014.

Symantec experts, the ones who have identified this particular scheme, warn internauts to be on the lookout for such websites. Important events, even ones planned to take place only years from now, can be successfully utilized by cybercriminals in their campaigns.
