Philips is making the storage, management and enjoyment of a CD collection simpler with the introduction of two music systems which can store hundreds of CDs and stream that music wirelessly to satellite stations anywhere in the house.

Philips is launching two Streamium Wireless Music Centers - the EISA award-winning WACS700 music system and the WACS5 separate component.

The two systems can store up to 750 or 1500 audio CDs, respectively, converting them to MP3 music files which are then stored on integrated hard disks. Once loaded up with music, the systems wirelessly stream it to as many as five Streamium Wireless Music Stations anywhere in the home, simultaneously.

The sleek, sophisticated design of the Streamium Wireless Music Center is an elegant addition to any room, and is aimed at consumers who want a self-contained music system capable of storing up to 750 CDs on its 40GB hard disk, and then streaming that music to up to five satellite stations. The WACS700's six-line LCD screen displays a comprehensive array of information, including artist name, album name, genre and track titles from the Gracenote CDDB database. This information is also replicated on the LCD display of the unique remote control handset also supplied with the system.

The complete WACS700 package - comprising one Wireless Music Center and one Wireless Music Station - will be available in Europe from September onwards, priced at Euro 999.

Consumers who have an existing audio set-up comprised of separate hi-fi components can also benefit from Philips Wireless Music Center concept with the WAC5 system.

The WAC5 is designed to enhance a 'conventional' hi-fi separates set-up - including an audio receiver or amplifier - by offering the same hard disk/wireless functionality as the WACS700. The main difference is that the WAC5 contains a larger hard disk, 80GB, which can store up to 1500 audio CDs, and at 360mm-wide, is designed to be situated on a shelf or rack system like other audio components. As with the WACS700, the WAC5 can also be connected via WiFi (802.11g) and UPnP to up to five stations around the house, as well as connecting into existing home WiFi networks.

The Philips WAC5 Streamium Wireless Music Center will be introduced in Europe this November.
