With all the displays on today's market, making one that stands out is proving to be more of a chore each day, but this didn't stop Philips from creating the newest member to the Brilliance family.

The 2011 edition of the Computex trade show is nearing fast, but this doesn't mean that IT players are holding back in their product release rate.

In fact, if anything, products have been coming out quite freely, with Philips now being the one to make its contribution.

What the company prepared is, as expected, a new display, more specifically a LCD monitor equipped with LED backlighting.

As a reminder, LED is superior to CCFL thanks to the much lower power draw, even as brightness and contrast are optimized.

That said, the new panel is named 273P3L, has a screen diagonal length of 27 inches and is part of the company's Brilliance series.

A TN panel was used in its making, as was a stand that enables one to adjust the height or to pivot or swivel the screen itself.

As for actual specifications, the Full HD resolution is, of course, supported (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), while the dynamic contrast ratio is of 500,000:1. Also, the response time is of 2ms, while the brightness of 395 cd/m2.

Those that like low power draw will be pleased to know that the PowerSensor technology was included in the construction, with a built-in sensor that lowers screen brightness when users aren't in front of it, leading to power savings of up to 80%.

It shouldn't be long before actual orders can be placed for the Philips Brilliance 273P3L LCD monitor. The price will be of roughly 390 Euro, give or take. All that users need after that (or before) is a system with a DVI, HDMI or D-Sub output.
