Since new video cards have come out like a flood, it is not at all unexpected for new monitors to show up as well, and Philips figured now was a good time to bring out and start selling a certain Brilliance monitor.

Like all of its rivals on the display market, Philips deals in a variety of products, such as TVs and PC monitors.

As it happens, both NVIDIA and Advanced Micro Devices, as well as their various partners, launched new video cards over the past month.

Since new video cards may go well with a new monitor, Philips created a new member for its Brilliance series.

Dubbed 234CL2SB, it is a so-called 'Blade' model that has a diagonal length of 23 inches and a slim profile.

Essentially, it is a thin display which uses W-LED backlights, an element that ensures not just a low power draw of 24W, at least compared to CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lights), but also a high contrast.

To be more specific, the dynamic contrast ratio managed is of 20,000,000:1, an asset complemented by the resolution and response time.

For those in need of more numbers, the native resolution is of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, while the G2G (gray to gray) response time is of 2 ms. What's more, the panel has a brightness of 250 cd/m2.

It should probably be noted that Philips threw in the SmartImage picture-enhancement technology, supplemented by the glossy design of the bezel itself, so that the product may be pleasant to look upon in every way.

Finally, for compatibility with various graphics cards and even consumer electronics capable of media playback, Philips gave the 23-inch 234CL2SB both D-Sub and HDMI inputs.

The new Brilliance 234CL2SB Blade monitor should already be found in stores, at a price of 225 Euro. All available information can be found here.
