Filipino officials are once again trying to convince hacktivists to stop the cyber battles for the domination of the controversial Panatag Shoal (Scarborough Shoal) area.

According to Manila Bulletin, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte didn’t point the finger at anyone, but urges both sides to put an end to the attacks.

“We’re not pinpointing to anybody but to whoever is responsible, this does not help anybody. It does not seek to facilitate to any resolution to the incident in Panatag (Shoal) so let’s stop these kinds of activities,” she said.

“We are not making any judgment on this as far as who the culprits are because we cannot rely simply on representations, that will be irresponsible for us but to whoever is doing it, it should stop.”

The statement comes after both Chinese and Filipino government sites have been breached and defaced.
