It appears that Microsoft really wants multiplatform titles to run on the Xbox One as well as they do on Sony's PlayStation 4, this time the focus being Bungie's upcoming first-person shooter Destiny.

The developer has revealed that Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft's Xbox division, is taking a keen interest in the development process, wanting to make sure that Destiny hits the 1080p mark on the Xbox one.

Destiny's beta test, the biggest such event to take place on next-gen consoles in the 9 months since their concurrent release, was enjoyed by 4.3 million gamers from all across the globe. The game was running in native 1080p on the PlayStation 4, but the client was reported to only run in 900p on the Xbox One platform.

Bungie pledged to have the game running in 1080p on the Xbox One as well, by the time Destiny comes out in September, and now it seems that Phil Spencer himself is taking an interest in how things are going.

"Phil Spencer is a great friend of ours, and has been putting great effort into making sure that the Xbox One edition of Destiny hits 1080p and is a great experience," Bungie's Director of Production Jonty Barnes stated in an interview with Edge Magazine.

The news comes following the report that Microsoft allegedly coerced Blizzard into pushing for 1080p in the recently released Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition, saying that the 900p that the game was running in was "unacceptable."

The controversy was cleared when both Blizzard and Phil Spencer addressed the issue, stating that there was no forcing involved, and that they just thought they would be able to achieve the resolution.

Ultimately, Spencer said that it was up to the development team to make the call on what they ship, and thus the game's day one patch ups the resolution on the Xbox One version to the 1080p that the PlayStation 4 is running at, without a noticeable impact on performance.

CD Projekt RED's upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is reportedly also struggling to achieve 1080p on both Sony's and Microsoft's current generation of consoles, but the developers still have a lot of time to optimize the game code and make the push for full HD, as the game is slated for a February 2015 release.

Destiny is scheduled to come out on September 9, headed to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
