He first made an appearance on the show in season 4, as guest mentor and, according to NBC, Pharrell Williams has proved his worth, so they asked him to come on board as one of the four judges on the hit singing competition The Voice.

Obviously, he said yes, as the latest tweet from the network clearly states.

Cee-Lo Green is stepping down from the show for good, to focus on his other projects, so Pharrell is coming to fill in his position. No word yet if Christina Aguilera is expected to return, as she was replaced on the previous season by Shakira.

However, Christina reportedly has a new baby on the way with fiancé Matt Rutler, so chances are she might want to take the year off to just enjoy the pregnancy, prepare for motherhood again and, who knows, maybe plan a wedding as well.

This leaves Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, who are certain to return for the new season.

For Pharrell, landing this TV gig caps off an amazing year, which saw him put out hit after hit, land an Oscar nomination (for “Happy,” aka the most upbeat and popular song of the year), and further expand his business empire into fashion.

Considering he’s now at the height of his fame, he will probably make a killing with his new job: huge stars can command multi-million paychecks for a single season of this type of TV competitions, just ask Mariah Carey or Jennifer Lopez.
