Peter Molyneux, the head of Lionhead, has declared that he hopes that Fablle III will sell five million copies when it launches in October. The game has been streamlined to welcome casual audiences, with a simpler user interface.

Molyneux hopes that Fable III will be the best selling title in the series. Fable has sold three million discs on the original Xbox, while the more recent Xbox 360 exclusive Fable II managed to move 3.5 million copies.

“We want more than five million people playing Fable III on the Xbox 360, full stop,” he told MCV.

Fable III was designed with this sales target in mind, as the developer said that, “Part of that plan is less clutter in the game, less aggravating little inventions that Peter Molyneux once thought was a good idea. More clarity, better story, better cast, better balance.”

A more famous cast of actors has also been selected to attract a wider portion of the audience. Lending their voice to the game's characters will be John Cleese, Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross and Simon Pegg.

Molyneux's sales projection is only for the Xbox 360. The PC version of Fable III will come at a later date, despite the original announcement that the game's release would be simultaneous on both platforms.

Fable III is an action role playing title that is trying to break some of the usual rules of the genre by removing the experience bar and the inventory to integrate them into the environment for a better sense of immersion.

Furthermore, it is set to expand on the last installment's cooperative multiplayer component by giving the players even more ways to interact. For example can they even marry and have children.

Fable III will be released on the 26th of October on the Xbox 360 and on the PC at a later unannounced date.
