Troubled rocker reveals failed attempt at taking his own life

The Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty is no stranger to controversy, and certainly not to risky adventures that endanger his life, having been arrested at least a couple of times driving while under the influence, not to mention his many attempts at kicking his severe drug habit. However, the rocker even contemplated taking his own life when he turned 30, because he couldn’t come to terms with his age, The London Daily News says.

They say it’s women who usually have this kind of problems with the big 3-0, held as the ultimate sign that they’re growing old, like a threshold between youth and maturity and, ultimately, old age. Going to show that men are not immune to this, Doherty is now saying that he too went through a similar experience of denial when he turned 30 back in March, when he even attempted to take his own life by jumping off the roof of a hotel.

“I had this bash in Paris and it was an absolute disgrace. I just made a bit of an idiot out of myself. I don’t even know exactly what happened but I ended up trying to throw myself off the top of the hotel. I wasn’t happy at all about being 30.” the troubled rocker is quoted as saying. However, his momentary desperation might have also had something to do with the quantity of alcohol he ingested that night – and it wasn’t anything even remotely close to small, the rocker himself says.

“I went through a bottle of vodka.” Pete explains. This, in turn, made him act in a manner that offended everyone at the bash, including the people who had helped organize the birthday party. Then again, it is being said, given Doherty’s record, perhaps people from his entourage should know this is to be expected from him under certain circumstances. “They presented me with this cake and I pushed it in the chef’s face who’d just made it for me. Then the chef and the security guards were chasing me around. I think I escaped unscathed.” the star explains.

As hinted above, most of Doherty’s youth years were spent holding international headlines for all kinds of mischiefs, from drugged performances at music festivals to arrests, court appearances and his stormy affair with British supermodel Kate Moss.
