Millions of hectares of forests are destroyed annually by companies using wood to manufacture their products.

Some of the most eco-conscious designers and companies have thought about other sustainable solutions, safeguarding woodlands and increasing their profit at the same time.

Meanwhile, experts have reached the conclusion that climate change is boosting the number of trees compromised by beetles and other pests.

In order to exploit this disturbing phenomenon and turn it into a business opportunity, Marco Pimentel has designed a collection of eco-friendly cases for iPads and iPhones, made only with infested wood.

While obtaining a decent profit for his works of art costing up to $90 (€70.7), Pimentel hopes to raise the people's level of awareness regarding climate change-driven beetle invasion and make them fully aware that products with a sleek design can also be manufactured from salvaged materials, for a minimal impact on the environment.
