Some people aren't exactly thrilled about having to share their homes (and their parents' attention) with one or more brothers and sisters.

However, researchers now say these people might want to reconsider their position and thank their siblings for having lowered their likelihood of divorce.

According to a new study, those who grow up with brothers and sisters are less likely to divorce at some point in their lives.

In fact, it appears that each additional sibling (up to about 7, that is) lowers a person's chances of divorcing by roughly 2%, EurekaAlert reports.

“Having more siblings means more experience dealing with others, and that seems to provide additional help in dealing with a marriage relationship as an adult,” study co-author Donna Bobbitt-Zeher explains.

Interestingly enough, having more than 7 siblings does not yield any noteworthy benefits as far as lowering divorce risk goes. Still, it doesn't hurt either.
