The couple say they are too old to keep taking care of these animals

Two pensioners living in the village of Dubovy Klyuch, East Russia are now desperate to find new homes for the ten white-chested Asian black bears they have been looking after for a considerable period of time.

As Ivan and Lubov Leshchenko explain, they are now too old to keep taking proper care of these animals.

Furthermore, they are struggling with financial difficulties, which is why both they and the bears would only benefit if the latter were to be taken in by an animal sanctuary.

Sources say that the ten bears (i.e. four females and six males) came to share a home with this elderly couple back in 2005 when the shelter at which they used to live was forced to shut down.

“My husband is 79 years old, he was sick for a year and cannot speak now. I take care of the bears myself,” Lubov told members of the press.

Hopefully, a new home for these bears will soon be found.
