It wasn’t a “sad breakup,” they’re still friends, inside source says

Penn Badgley and Zoe Kravitz are no longer a couple. The two dated for about 2 years but have recently decided to go their separate ways because it just wasn’t working anymore, it has emerged.

The “Gossip Girl” actor and the “X-Men: First Class” actress have tried to keep their romance out of the pages of the tabloids for as long possible but, because they made such a cute couple, this basically made them paparazzi magnets.

Though they were photographed looking as in love as ever at the Coachella Music Festival 2013 a short while ago, it seems that things have cooled off a bit between them.

They decided it was best for both if they just called it quits, Us Weekly reports.

However, unlike in most breakups – especially celebrity ones –, theirs isn’t a bad one.

“It is all good between them. It wasn't a sad breakup,” an insider says for the aforementioned publication.

As for the reason of the split, the tipster hints that their careers might have played a part.

“It just wasn't working. It really did end on good terms, though,” adds the source.

“They are at two different stages in their careers. They just didn't have time for each other,” the tipster shares for the mag.

Penn and Zoe were actually living together in an apartment in New York. The explanation that they split because of work commitments actually makes sense, since the careers of both are really taking off now.

Before Penn, Zoe dated her “X-Men: First Class” co-star Michael Fassbender, while he was linked to his “Gossip Girl” co-star Blake Lively, who is now married to Ryan Reynolds.

Penn and Zoe were first rumored to be dating in the summer of 2011, which they confirmed shortly afterwards with a string of cute public appearances and public displays of affection.
