The highly fashionable, yet extremely accessible Penelope & Monica Cruz for MNG line by the two stars for the street giant that is Mango is usually promoted with the help of both sisters. This time is an exception, as the ads for the spring collection, which have just been released, include only Penelope Cruz, rocking the cowgirl and hobo look.

Of course, that is not to say that the latest promo campaign is in any way beneath the previous ones that also included less known but equally talented sister Monica. The spring Mango collection, as the first shots reveal, is returning to the idea of comfort over trendiness, yet keeping up to date with the hottest appearances on the fashion scene. Fringes, patterned tops and shirts, flowery and flowing maxi dresses and skirts are all present in the new line, as opposed to the previous one, which placed more emphasis on elegance and impeccable style.

From this perspective, the spring collection (and implicitly the ads) differs considerably from the previous one, since it takes the idea of trendiness and combines it with that of comfort to deliver women all over the world items that are highly hip and accessible at the same time. Daytime wear pieces include jeans, soft pelt boots, maxi empire dresses and fringed vests, all of which are also highly versatile and can be worn in countless combinations – just the perfect solution for women to deal with recession and spend less money on clothes, it has been said.

Women turning to Mango for ideas as regards nighttime wear are not left stranded either. Keeping it classy – and extremely convenient for spring – in all-white combinations, the line also includes pieces like a smart waistcoat with matching trousers, as well as long-length flowing skirts with matching tops, as the latest shots reveal. What’s even better is that neither of these items go well only with a certain body type, which goes to prove that both Penelope and Monica are truly dedicated to designing clothes for all women, just like they said they would when they first announced their collaboration with Mango.

Penelope and Monica Cruz have been designing for Mango for two years. However, the line was not Penelope’s first brush with the fashion industry: she was the face of Ralph Lauren Polo during her three-year affair with Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise, has modeled for Diddy’s Sean John line, and has been a spokesperson for L’Oreal since 2006.
