Have you ever wondered if you could live with a sharp object in your head for years and still live a fairly normal life?

The medical world proves that it is possible, as the case of a 24-year-old man from Afghanistan reveals.

The AP mentions the case of one patient who has had a pencil inside his head for the past 15 years, as discussed in a medical conference recently.

It is 10 centimeters (4 inches) long and it has been lodged in his skull since he was a child. According to Mathias Brandstaedter, doctors in Germany took it out and the patient is now feeling a lot better.

The pencil was taken out in 2011 by the medical staff at Aachen University Hospital. The Afghan man had no recollection of how it got inside his skull, but he does remember falling down as a child.

He got checked out because he was experiencing vision impairment in one eye, he was getting colds often and he suffered from constant headaches.
